The core of our mission is to nurture and develop the whole individual in an academically challenging environment. This foundation provides La Lumiere graduates with a distinct advantage over most of their peers: they are trained to think critically, articulate clearly, and take action confidently -- with a solid awareness of morals and values.
The college preparatory curriculum provides a traditional foundation in mathematics, the social and physical sciences, theology, ethics, foreign language, english literature and composition, and rhetoric. The program places special emphasis on critical thinking and the mastery of oral and written communications.
Arts, computer science, and a range of other courses and required summer reading programs round out the well-balanced La Lumiere education. In addition, the athletics program addresses the need to balance the intellectual development with the development of the body.
For the strongest academic students, we offer Advanced courses in Biology, Chemistry, and the modern languages. We participate in the College Board’s Advanced Placement Program (AP) in Physics, Calculus, Computer Programming, United States History, and English Literature and Composition.
